Gurkha pants trace their origins back to the uniforms worn by the elite Nepali soldiers serving in the British army during the 19th century. The double-pleated front and high cummerbund-style waistband, complete with buckle fastenings, ensured both comfort and functionality.

Traditional Gurkha pants feature a very distinct buckling system, with a buckle extending from within the waistband on the left hip and another above the fly, forming the buckle’s tongue on the right hip. Enamored by this unique closure, Nepalese roots, and military function, Gurkha pants have become a key part of Chota House’s designs over the years.
